About the Conference

Our first Science of Improvement conference brought together a national audience of more than 350 clinicians, academics, managers, students and patients to beautiful Yorkshire on 21st and 22nd November 2016 for an action-packed conference, including 10 high profile plenary speakers and 27 breakout sessions.

Quality Improvement methods are increasingly recognised as a powerful means of delivering rapid and effective advances in the quality and safety of patient care. However, such methods are sometimes criticised for being excessively evangelical and lacking the rigour and credibility of classical research-based approaches. The SCIMP conference aimed to bridge this divide by providing a national UK forum for exploring ways of integrating Quality Improvement methods with research-based approaches.
